Understanding the Mechanism of Fracture
The origin of fracture and failure mode were determined by observing the fracture surface. Also, it is possible to determine the existence of defects in materials and the validity of the loading stress by observing the origin of fracture in detail.

Microscope Observation
A microscope is capable of observing color information and surface relief up to 1000X. The picture shows the fracture surface of a specimen after elevated testing.
As you can see, about two-thirds of the fracture surface is dark gray, indicating that the fracture was formed at an early stage, that is, it was oxidized at a high temperature after fracture formation.
SEM Observation
SEM is used to observe the micro-structure of a fractured surface at a higher magnification. Also, EDX determines the type of inclusions and compounds in a material by analyzing chemical composition in the range of a few micrometers.
